Kane Management Group Fined For Using Unlicensed Workers

By admin | September 11, 2007

Mesothelioma Research PORTSMOUTH, NH, USA — Kane Management Group LLC and an affiliated entity, 85 Industrial Park II LLC, have agreed to pay a $90,000 penalty for using unlicensed workers to remove asbestos flooring from a Dover industrial building, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office announced Friday.

The $90,000 payment stems from 2002, when the state Department of Environmental Services learned the unlicensed workers were doing the work.

State law requires that licensed contractors perform asbestos removal. The state yesterday said $10,000 of the money will fund air pollution and climate change education projects at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye.

Officials caution property owners they should conduct an asbestos survey before doing any renovation or demolition work, and any asbestos present must be removed by licensed abatement contractors.

Kane Management Group is the property-management arm of The Kane Co. Inc., a Portsmouth real-estate brokerage and development firm.
